Meditation and thoughts follow the scripture.
The Glories of God’s Law
1 Happy are those whose way is blameless,
who walk in the law of the Lord.
2 Happy are those who keep his decrees,
who seek him with their whole heart,
3 who also do no wrong,
but walk in his ways.
4 You have commanded your precepts
to be kept diligently.
5 O that my ways may be steadfast
in keeping your statutes!
6 Then I shall not be put to shame,
having my eyes fixed on all your commandments.
7 I will praise you with an upright heart,
when I learn your righteous ordinances.
8 I will observe your statutes;
do not utterly forsake me.
God’s Fidelity Assured
30When all these things have happened to you, the blessings and the curses that I have set before you, if you call them to mind among all the nations where the Lord your God has driven you, 2and return to the Lord your God, and you and your children obey him with all your heart and with all your soul, just as I am commanding you today, 3then the Lord your God will restore your fortunes and have compassion on you, gathering you again from all the peoples among whom the Lord your God has scattered you. 4Even if you are exiled to the ends of the world,* from there the Lord your God will gather you, and from there he will bring you back. 5The Lord your God will bring you into the land that your ancestors possessed, and you will possess it; he will make you more prosperous and numerous than your ancestors.
6 Moreover, the Lord your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, so that you will love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, in order that you may live. 7The Lord your God will put all these curses on your enemies and on the adversaries who took advantage of you. 8Then you shall again obey the Lord, observing all his commandments that I am commanding you today, 9and the Lord your God will make you abundantly prosperous in all your undertakings, in the fruit of your body, in the fruit of your livestock, and in the fruit of your soil. For the Lord will again take delight in prospering you, just as he delighted in prospering your ancestors,
The Tradition of the Elders
15Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said, 2‘Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands before they eat.’ 3He answered them, ‘And why do you break the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition? 4For God said,* “Honour your father and your mother,” and, “Whoever speaks evil of father or mother must surely die.” 5But you say that whoever tells father or mother, “Whatever support you might have had from me is given to God”,* then that person need not honour the father.* 6So, for the sake of your tradition, you make void the word* of God. 7You hypocrites! Isaiah prophesied rightly about you when he said:
8 “This people honours me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me;
9 in vain do they worship me,
teaching human precepts as doctrines.” ’

Here Comes the Sun 021211
Today seems like the beginning of the great spring thaw, with temperatures reaching into the low 40’s range, and snow and ice melt really progressing fast. It is expected to be above freezing all week.
After one of the hardest, wettest and coldest winters on record, we here in Missouri are ready for spring, or at least a substantial break in being indoors all the time.
At the same time, our church, Peace Mennonite Church of Columbia, MO has a new location, or rather, it now has no location.
After deciding to vacate a permanent fixed building, with all its overhead, the church is thawing out, and beginning a new beginning. Each week we may have a new location, as we seek to spend more time with the poor, the isolated, the sick and those confined for whatever reason. For tomorrow, we are having church at Berlin Theater in Columbia, MO at 10:30 am. Berlin Theater is a small theater next door to Café Berlin. We are trying to find all the ways we can as a church to have a low environmental impact, to focus all our time and resources on helping those Jesus commanded us to help rather than on a big pretty building.
So, we’re off! Pray for us as we begin a new church location, and try to find new ways of doing the work of the Kingdom of God.
Pray for us, please.
