Psalm 145:8-9, 14-21
The Lord Upholds All Who Are Falling 072811
Maybe it’s just me, but it seems that there is great tension and uncertainty in America these recent days. The almost violent struggle over the issue of the debt ceiling has many people, worldwide, feeling very unstable, unsafe and as if we’re falling into a deep dark hole.
Human, worldly affairs make it seem that way. But Christians need to reaffirm their faith in the Lord, and their faith in Jesus. We have connections to the creator of the Universe! We are held up, stable, safe from falling (Psalm 145:14).
Pray for all today, that they realize that the Lord God of all loves us all, and will keep us from falling. Pray that we realize that if we fall, it is because we jumped too far, into the hands of evil.
Pray for peace, pray for everyone’s peace and calm today.
Psalm 145:8-9, 14-21
8The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
9The Lord is good to all, and his compassion is over all that he has made.
14The Lord upholds all who are falling, and raises up all who are bowed down.
15The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food in due season.
16You open your hand, satisfying the desire of every living thing.
17The Lord is just in all his ways, and kind in all his doings.
18The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.
19He fulfills the desire of all who fear him; he also hears their cry, and saves them.
20The Lord watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy.
21My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord, and all flesh will bless his holy name forever and ever.
10The proverbs of Solomon.
A wise child makes a glad father,
but a foolish child is a mother’s grief.
2Treasures gained by wickedness do not profit,
but righteousness delivers from death.
3The Lord does not let the righteous go hungry,
but he thwarts the craving of the wicked.
4A slack hand causes poverty,
but the hand of the diligent makes rich.
5A child who gathers in summer is prudent,
but a child who sleeps in harvest brings shame.
10I rejoice in the Lord greatly that now at last you have revived your concern for me; indeed, you were concerned for me, but had no opportunity to show it. 11Not that I am referring to being in need; for I have learned to be content with whatever I have. 12I know what it is to have little, and I know what it is to have plenty. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being well-fed and of going hungry, of having plenty and of being in need. 13I can do all things through him who strengthens me. 14In any case, it was kind of you to share my distress. 15You Philippians indeed know that in the early days of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you alone.
