Ask, And It Will Be Given You 073011

Matthew 7:7 is this morning’s heartfelt reminder. How many times during the course of our normal days do we have to be reminded that our footsteps, our breath, our vision are all given to us each day, as well as bread and water.  Sometimes, in each day, the stress and strain builds and I don’t know what to do or say, or even what to pray for…..in these times the title of today’s thought would help….ask, and it will be given.

Pray for the wisdom of God to help each of us know when to ask for help, and to ask for help more often than we think we need.

Pray for the lives of the starving and thirsty African continent during drought, famine and war. Pray for the church and other workers who are there to help the helpless.

Pray for peace

(brother) Bill

Psalm 145:8-9, 14-21

Isaiah 44:1-5

Matthew 7:7-11

Psalm 145:8-9, 14-21

8The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

9The Lord is good to all, and his compassion is over all that he has made.

14The Lord upholds all who are falling, and raises up all who are bowed down.

15The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food in due season.

16You open your hand, satisfying the desire of every living thing.

17The Lord is just in all his ways, and kind in all his doings.

18The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

19He fulfills the desire of all who fear him; he also hears their cry, and saves them.

20The Lord watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy.

21My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord, and all flesh will bless his holy name forever and ever.

Isaiah 44:1-5

44But now hear, O Jacob my servant, Israel whom I have chosen! 2Thus says the Lord who made you, who formed you in the womb and will help you: Do not fear, O Jacob my servant, Jeshurun whom I have chosen. 3For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my spirit upon your descendants, and my blessing on your offspring. 4They shall spring up like a green tamarisk, like willows by flowing streams. 5This one will say, “I am the Lord’s,” another will be called by the name of Jacob, yet another will write on the hand, “The Lord’s,” and adopt the name of Israel.

Matthew 7:7-11

7“Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. 8For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. 9Is there anyone among you who, if your child asks for bread, will give a stone? 10Or if the child asks for a fish, will give a snake? 11If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
